-----------------------------

After the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010, OREA has deepened its efforts to support the most affected children through an orphanage where children receive food, medical care, education, and housing. The orphanage also hosts thirty children experiencing economic difficulty during the day. They also receive education, health, and food. Nine children have already been adopted.

But the orphanage is not the only ambition of OREA. In fact, hundreds of thousands children (including 5,000 that OREA has already visited) also need education, housing, health care, and food everywhere in Haiti.

Sponsor a child

Our most urgent project is the sponsorship of a child. We would like our children to be sponsored. It consists in giving $50 each month to OREA for a child and to communicate with him. It would greatly help us to provide education, care, food and housing for each child. To sponsor a child, complete this form. We thank you for your kindness.

Today, the 44 children share two small classrooms (which also serve as dormitory, and refectory). To enable more children to have access to education, health care, housing and food, we would like to extend the existing building this summer (light construction on the roof). This would be very useful but also very expensive (around $8,000) because the price of materials has doubled after the earthquake. Again, we rely on your donations!

Furniture

Today, the children sleep on the floor. We would like to buy beds so that the children sleep more comfortably. We would also like more chairs and tables. In addition, the electricity in Haiti being very unreliable (power failures every day), we would like to install solar panels. And to raise the sanitary conditions, we would also like more equipment for the kitchen and the toilet/shower.

Access to school equipment

Currently, children must share one book per subject and have few notebooks. It's very little and therefore education is difficult. Again, we rely on your donations.
