CHOLERA TREATMENT CENTER - CTC - Petit Goave (Supported by: MDM Espagne)

This site is designated as a "CTC" per the PAHO list dated 11/19/10

CTC Definition:

Center for the treatment of Cholera (CTC): a center set up for the
treatment of cholera with a staff recruited for this 40 to 300 beds
which receives the sick suspects of cholera. In the case ideal,
there are tents for rehydration iv and tents or rooms for the phase
of re-convalescensce. Capable of processing of complications such
as pulmonary edema. Open 24 on 24/ 7 on 7. Receives the sick who
come spontaneously and cases referred to it.

Hello everybody,

Just to add some information about the situation in Petit Goave:

We have 15 cases in the last 8 days: 1 confirmed by laboratory and 14 by epidemiological nexus.

The 50 beds CTC will be operational in a few days, but for the moment we have a triage and treatment 7 beds unit at the Petit Goave hospital, where we are taking care of the patients who need it.

Prevention and disinfection actions in the living area's of the patients are regularly organized in coordination with other NGOs like OXFAM

Petit Goave next to Grand Goave has registered 12 cases in the last 7 days - 8 last week and 4 in the last 2 daysr. The cases were refered to MdM Spain - however there is not yet a CTC... however it should be build at the end of the week
