Description
Engineers Without Borders - San Francisco Professionals (EWB-SFP) was established in 2004 as the first professional chapter of EWB-USA. EWB isn't just for engineers. We want entusiastic volunteers who believe in EWB-USA's mission to help partner with developing communities to improve their quality of life through the implementation of environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economical engineering projects while developing internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

Our chapter has over 100 members and is currently involved with the implementation of projects around the world that are focused on improving the quality of life in developing countries and communitiies. Examples range from our Tanzania team that is building a clean water delivery system for over 2000 villagers in rural Tanzania, to our Appropriate Technology Design Team that is designing a device to turn rocks into water filtration media for the Philippines. We hold monthly chapter meetings with guest speakers from EWB projects and outside organizations doing work on sustainable development and appropriate technology. We also have annual fundraising events to raise funds and awareness for projects and promote the EWB community in the Bay Area.
