Mission
FROM THE SITE: The Haiti aid watchdog group (the Group) is formed in order to monitor the impact of the international aid in Haiti. The Group oversees the impact of the humanitarian efforts being undertaken. The purpose of the Haiti aid Watch Dog Group is to independently assess the impact of the humanitarian efforts and upcoming recovery and reconstruction efforts in Haiti, facilitate communication among partners, encourage dialogue between the international community, the government and the Haitian civil society in order for the citizens of Haiti to be inform and play a more active role in this initiative, and ensure that the majority of the Haitian people really benefit from this aid. The organization is mainly interested on health, services food distribution, and vulnerable groups, . The Watch Dog group believes that the core of the humanitarian agenda is about saving lives and helping Haitians rebuild their lives. The Group is working with a network of Haitians and international frontline providers with a special focus on medical care, food distribution, and vulnerable groups, such as women and children. Therefore, it is important to identify a logical point for the analysis of the impact. STRUCTURE
The Watchdog is monitored by an international board composed of respected professionals with strong academic background, extensive working experience in Haiti and around the world. The organization has a dynamic local Board responsible to lead and implement key activities mainly brief the press, meet government officials, international partners and community leaders. The technical secretariat as the engine of the organization manage the day to day operation of the organization under the leadership of the Executive Director and a diverse team of local and international consultants.

Citizen Monitoring
The Objectives of the “Sitwayen ap swiv `ed la- Citizens Monitoring the Aid,” is to;

1) Empower Haitian citizens through information by making them aware of what is happening with foreign aid so that they can hold officials and providers accountable.
2) Encourage Haitian citizens to be engaged with Haiti Aid Watchdog (Aid) in monitoring the management and impact of international assistance to Haiti.
3) Offer a platform for constructive dialogue between service providers (non-governmental organizations) and the beneficiaries who are mainly concentrated in internally displaced person (IDP) camps in and outside of Port-au-Prince.
4) Allow international organizations as service providers to promote transparency by informing the public about their accomplishments, set backs and plans to better serve their public.
5) Provide the voiceless an opportunity to ask direct questions and get direct information through partners, providers and the government.
6) Encourage Haitian media to join civil society organizations in an effort to track the impact of the aid while promoting transparency and accountability.
7) Encourage the providers and the government, through radio and television talk-show formats, to share information on the humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.
8) Promote transparency and accountability while encouraging noticeable efforts and accomplishments.

During the launching of the initiative on Tuesday November 16, 2010, about 35 people living under the tents located in Tapis vert, Parc Jean Marie Vincent, Petion Ville Golf Club, and Delmas 31 had the opportunity to ask questions to representatives of Zanmi La Sante and Church World Services. About 15 members of the press were present at the round table. The activity lasted 2 hours.


Immediate Impact;

Following the roundtable, the camp Hasco where 300 families are leaving since the earthquake has received the support of Zanmi La Sante. A small clinic has been put in place to serve this camp.

Foundation Avenir (Foundation “ FUTURE”)

The Foundation Avenir is a non-profit organization founded in September 2003 to combat poverty. It specializes in localized interventions in marginalized communities facilitating reinforcement of structural organization in the areas less served resulting in a progressive assumption of responsibility in development.

Academie de Perfectionnement des Cadres(AFPEC) (Academy for management training)

AFPEC is an organization founded in 1992 by a group of university professors and professionals from various fields. It offers to the public an extensive and excellent executive training on Management, leadership, human rights.

Universite CFDE (Center for Economic training and Development)

CFDE is a subsidiary of DAA (Development Assistance and Associates), a center for studies in teaching, leadership, management and economic development.

PRODEV (Foundation for Progress and Development)

The main objective of this foundation is to support the development of Haiti through positive initiatives in the area of education with a particular focus on the youth. PRODEV has developed several projects in place concerning children in prison, promoting women in politics, the social assimilation of deported Haitians from overseas.

IMED -Institut Mobile d’Education Democratique

IMED ‘s initial sole objective is to promote the principals and values of democracy throughout Haiti. But in the course of its development , adjusting to circumstances, had to embark on 2 major additional missions: protection of human rights and humanitarian assistance.

GCC-Groupe des Citoyens Concernes (Concerned Citizens Group)

Founded in 2005, GCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to defend human rights and conduct advocacy on key social issues.

RANCODHA (National Association of Citizens Organized for Haitian Development)

RANCODHA works with community-based organizations to consolidate their capacity for oversight and advocacy, and to give the most vulnerable and marginalized groups the tools to influence public policy and community development through peaceful, democracy.
