An update regarding Haiti Sud-Est: Heart to Heart supports a clinic in Bleck and has been holding clinics at Cascade Pichon since October 2010. Monday we received a cry for help because over Easter weekend cholera hit Mare Jofre, Ti Boulay, Platon Figue and Domas areas located in and around Thiotte. The plea reported 22 deaths with 31 sick. Today Heart to Heart drove in what cholera product and water purification product we had remaining. We have cholera product in the douane since April 1. Should come out any day now...and we are implementing a 3-month response plan into the area.

Name of Facility: Heart to Heart Clinic at Fondwa (we provided the 40ft Clinic in a Can created for H2h by Hospitals of Hope)
Any supporting orgs.(for example: MSPP, MSF, etc.) Father Joseph and the Sisters of Charity who have an orphanage, a school of 700 plus students
Type Facility (Type if applies (CTC, CTU, CTP post): Primary Care facility (do cholera screening on any patient that presents with diarrhea. This means we treat them with ORS and cholera meds, MSPP cholera education and water treatment product.

Days per week facility is open? 7 days a week. Heart to Heart does their Friday Clinics
Medical Staffing (How many Doctors, Nurses, Non Medical Staff on hand)?: Heart to Heart Fridays: 2 docs, 2 nurses plus 4 support staff
Does facility have any supply needs that you are having trouble meeting? no
Can you pick up supplies? Yes Where?: at Promess and at our warehouse, donations from other NGO's and from our weekly volunteers

Services facility normally provides if not strictly cholera related facility: Heart to Heart does Primary Care Clinics. (Since late October we have run cholera screening next to, but not inside, our various clinic locations. At Fondwa we did not begin Cholera Screening until January. Cholera didn't move into Fondwa until then.

Date began treating Cholera patients?: At Fondwa in January 2011
Total number of patients since that date: 8 suspected during January
Total number of fatalities since that date: In Fondwa, per Sister Carmela lost two (2) people who were unable to come to clinic and she could not reach in time.
Number of Cholera patients in the last week?: zero
Number of fatalities in the last week? zero
Last week, has number of Cholera patients stabilized, increased, decreased or is fluctuating?: stabilized. No suspected Cholera during February
Bed Capacity for Cholera patients?: none

Is the surrounding community receiving education on Cholera prevention? Choler education is done at clinic every day
How far are Cholera patients having to travel to receive treatment at your facility?: It is very mountainous so have no real idea

What is the water source for this facility?: well
Is your water purified? water purification solution has been being provided via clinic
If so, through a holding tank or through buckets?

Primary Needs: clorox and more buckets
Additional Comments about your situation: Sister Carmela is relieved there has not been one suspected cholera patient presenting thus far during February. Nor has she been called concerning it as she was during January.
