FYI - The community of Belle-Fontaine, a settlement located in the northeastern region of
the country, in the communal section of Croix-des-Bouquets is made up of four districts of
more than 30,000 thousand inhabitants. None of the districts benefit from any public
service. To get to Belle-Fontaine 3 from Port Au Prince requires more than a 6-hour
journey. Additionally, the illiteracy rate is nearly 100%, and the effects of extensive
deforestation are quite evident.

In January 2009, orientation meetings
as well as a Thanksgiving Service
were held for the 85 enrolled students
of the newly formed Garden of Grace
Elementary School located in Belle
Fontaine 3, in the Croix des Bouquets
region. Classes commenced on
February 2, 2009 for students, who had
never before attended school, now
enjoying the benefits of education under
the tutelage of four professionally
trained teachers from the City of Port Au
Prince.
