5/1/11 LTel: Population decreased from 284 to 246

5/24 LTel - Spoke directly to RC Volunteer at this site - Ro Ford:
Red Cross needs Volunteers at the Belk Activity Ctr. shelter for night shift (11 pm-7 am). I spoke directly with an RC Volunteer. The way this works is you come to the shelter, complete an application for DRO (Disaster Response Operations), & they do a background check on the spot. You will receive some quick/basic training & it's their hope you'll cont. to train and come back to volunteer in the future. The Red Cross is committed to helping these remaining families in the long haul and getting them placed in housing. In the meantime, they need people to watch over them while they sleep and make sure people who don't belong don't enter their space. The night shift has been the hardest to fill so all you graveyard shift types or night owl's, c'mon and help!
