FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 28, 2011, 3:00 PM Volunteer Reception Centers are being established across the state over the next several days. These centers coordinate local volunteer efforts and are a good resource if interested in volunteering.

On May 13, 2011, we informed you that we had recorded more than 130,000 volunteer hours from our VRCs. Since then, we have more than doubled those hours with an impressive 265,000+ volunteer hours! Great job VRCs.

Marion County VRC - Hackleburg: Reported large number of unmet needs in the Hackleburg community.
Marshall County VRC - Guntersville: Reported a need for heavy equipment to help with debri removal.
Tuscaloosa County VRC - Tuscaloosa: Reported a need for heavy equipment and people to operate heavy equipment to help with debri removal.
Walker County VRC - Jasper: Reported a need for heavy equipment to help with debri removal.

Tuscaloosa County Spontaneous Volunteer Management Team will host the Volunteer Reception Center at St. Mathias Episcopal Church at 2310 Skyland Boulevard East in Tuscaloosa from Monday, May 2 – Friday, May 6 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. ALL individuals wishing to volunteer should report here to sign up and find out about volunteer needs available, and some volunteers will be placed immediately. Depending on your skill set, your information may be taken, and you could be contacted once a volunteer need becomes available.
