===================================
Restoration Point is continuing to pursue the mission of
restoring and rebuilding 1,000 homes from the Katrina
disaster. We continue to need volunteer support, and
financial contributions. Together, we can make a difference
within this devastated area. Restoration Point is seeking
skilled and semi-skilled volunteers to work on homes of
families in great need. Please contact us at:
info@restorationpoint.org for information about volunteering,
donating, or otherwise supporter our efforts.
Mission Statement
Restoration Point Foundation is dedicated to helping those
impacted by and responding to disaster with excellent
coordination and training, applied science and technology,
and great energy.
We are currently a disaster recovery organization working
with a caseload of families and restoring their homes using
volunteer labor. When volunteers arrive, we conduct a thorough
orientation about the area, local environmental hazards
including weather, and job site safety concerns. We monitor
local safety hazards and weather and alert fellow recovery
organizations of the latest information. Our unique awareness
of all safety concerns better equips our volunteers with
adequate information to ensure a safer volunteer experience.
We develop our direct assistance caseload through members of
the community, local church congregations, and Long-Term Recovery
Committees, who provide advice on the needs of the community and
individuals in the community. Once a need is determined,
Restoration Point Foundation conducts an assessment, including a
physical assessment and construction estimate to determine the
amount of materials and labor necessary to repair or rebuild the
home damaged or destroyed by the disaster. This allows for the
homeowner and the organization to understand the scope of the
repair or rebuild and the finances needed to complete the
restoration. The project then moves forward and volunteer labor
and organizational collaboration is sought to complete the
project. We encourage direct adoption of projects and families
by churches, organizations, corporations, businesses, and
individuals. We seek skilled labor to oversee unskilled labor
to ensure proper completion of the job so that the final
product is solid, sustainable, safe, and meets all building
codes.
Our website is still in the final development stages. You can
support us with a donation through Network for Good
(www.networkforgood.org) or PO Box 327, Pass Christian, MS 39571
--------------------------
This organization has made a 5 year commitment for recovery
and rebuilding in Pass Christian. Their objectives are to
help restore the community and to help residents rebuild their
homes. There is a great need in this city. Homes along the
beach as well as several miles inland were destroyed. The
infrastructure in this town was virtually nonexistent after
the storm. Progress is being made but it is very slow and
the need for assistance from volunteers is great. Housing
and meals are provided for a fee of $15.00 per day to defray
operation costs. You must have your own transportation. This
is a county-wide requirement. If you would like to help this
devastated gulf coast community recover contact us at:
