Volunteers of ALL denominations/unaffiliated groups ARE MORE THAN WELCOME!
The Louisiana United Methodist Disaster Recovery Ministry has four available volunteer camp sites in Abbottsville; DuLac; New Orleans; and Lake Charles. Accomodations can run from dormitory style, bunkhouse, or break out your sleeping bag accomodations. They have a capacity of 500 or more at any one time for volunteers.
All sites charge $10/day per person per night (meals not included) with exception to the DuLac site which runs $17.50 per person per night (meal ARE included).
It's recommended that a minimum of one person in your volunteer group have a skill to assist unskilled folks in training. They offer an orientation and brief training for unskilled volunteers.
If you already have a scheduled volunteer project assigned, this facility is more than happy to provide housing accomodations. They can also provide your volunteer group with work orders AND accomodations.
Minimum age requirement for volunteers is 14 and up.
