Central Texans Affected by Wildfires Encouraged to Call 2-1-1 for Help

AUSTIN, Texas – September 7, 2011 – The 2-1-1 Helpline, through United Way
Capital Area (UWCA), is the best place for families and individuals affected by
wildfires to call for help. 2-1-1, a free, state-wide information and referral network,
works to constantly update and verify relief resources, as new information is
available. Callers are connected with an experienced call specialist that has the
most up-to-date information on relief resources. If you are in need of help, please
dial 2-1-1 to get information about:
• Evacuations
• Shelter locations
• School closures
• Road closures
• Resources for evacuees
• And other resources
Information on these resources and the UWCA Wildfire Relief Fund and
volunteer opportunities is available at www.unitedwaycapitalarea.org.
