Family Promise

Family Promise / Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) is a shelter program based on a national model that provides transitional shelter for families experiencing homelessness. Host churches, synagogues and support congregations work in collaboration to provide year round shelter, meals, and support to families as they work toward achieving goals of permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
---
Feed My People

The Feed My People Program is a collaboration of 11 religious congregations in the Austin community that provide the facilities, volunteers, and donations necessary to serve the guests. The Feed My People Program provides a morning meal twice a week with services including showers, haircuts, hygiene articles, clothing, eyeglass referrals, and assistance with birth certificates and identification cards. Breakfast and services are provided at First United Methodist Church, Family Life Center at 1300 Lavaca Street.
---
Passages

Full time case management is provided for families in the Family Promise/IHN program as part of a six-agency collaboration funded by The US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Professional case managers assist families with the following issues: housing, employment, job training, education, childcare, counseling, legal issues and many other needs. Case managers work with the Passages partner agencies, as well as the community at large, to ensure that each family successfully moves toward self-sufficiency.
---
Housing First

"Housing First" refers to programs or approaches that aim to reduce the length of time that households spend being homeless or in shelter and prevent homelessness for at risk populations such as "doubled-up" families with children.

Foundation for the Homeless' Housing First Collaborations

During 2009 and 2010, Foundation for the Homeless became a working partner in several new "Housing First" collaborations. These collaborations are aimed at keeping persons at 50% of the Median Family Income for Austin housed and rapidly re-housing those who do become homeless in fair market permanent housing, using a combination of short-term or shallow subsidies, case management and a housing locator:

1. The City of Austin's Rapid Re-Housing Demonstration Project (RRDP)
2. The Austin Travis County Housing Stability Collaboration Demonstration Project
3. The Right At Home Pilot Project
