SOURCE: Sun Herald / Friday, Aug. 29, 2008
The Bay Area Food Bank has prepared its warehouse by stocking enough food for relief and preparing for the possible not-so-calm after the storm. But due to reports from the National Hurricane Center that make the Food Bank community in the middle of Gustav's path, the Bay Area Food Bank is working with America's Second Harvest and Food Bank's across the Gulf Coast to prepare for the worst-case scenario.
The Food Bank is a member of America's Second Harvest, the Nation's Food Bank Network. And, because the Food Bank serves 24 counties across over 300 miles of the Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida coast, this hurricane has the potential to have an impact on its service area.
The 205 Food Banks in the America's Second Harvest network have already worked together following the Midwest flooding and Hurricane Dolly and stand ready to assist on the Gulf Coast if needed.
