From the press release:

This platform is a collaborative effort in between Internews (both EU
and US), Ushahidi, UNOCHA RCA and The Association of Journalists for
Human Rights in CAR.

Internews’ was recently awarded an HIF grant, which is a natural
continuation and a very important expansion of Internews innovative
work in CAR in partnership with and in support of local media. We are
very pleased to have received funding from HIF to experiment, document
and learn in CAR, fulfilling the commitment to innovation, increased
accountability and amplification of beneficiaries’ voices expressed by
the Department for International Development (DfID) in its
Humanitarian Emergency Response Review.

Integrating Local Media and ICTs into Humanitarian Response in CAR is
an innovative project that, starting in early March, aims at fostering
a bounded network of trusted local media organizations. This network
is now able to gather real-time, first-hand information from affected
populations creating a two-way communication flow with humanitarians,
improving emergency response, community participation and community
resilience.

To see more about this project you can visit our Project Blog here:

I personally think this is a great step towards the use of Crisis
Mapping for emergency response and we will share as soon as possible
the results of the M&E report being done by Patrick Vink from the
Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.

A huge thanks to the UNOCHA friends that provided a lot of guidance
and support, to Robbie McKey from Ushahidi, to Patrick Meier and to
the Internews Team on the ground.
