About this facility

Mission
The Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department was started in 1975 by a group of forward thinking residents who said 'due to the recent beetle kill epidemic, we are starting a fire department. At that time, RCVFD was a small fire department that served some 30 acres and was focused on wildland fire. We started with 2 army surplus trucks in a 2 bay station. Today, RCVFD provides service to over 100 square miles from 3 stations (now 2 - station 4 was destroyed in the fire ). We provide Wildland Fire, EMS, Rescue and Structure Fire Response, and do so without tax funding.
