Waldo Canyon Fire
Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has secured a secondary site to care for animals evacuated by the Waldo Canyon Fire at Freedom Financial Event Center, 3650 N. Nevada Ave. WE ARE CURRENTLY IN NEED OF DOG AND CAT CRATES OF ALL SIZES, BLANKETS (NO SHEETS) AND TOWELS. IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE DELIVER THEM DIRECTLY TO FREEDOM FINANCIAL EVENT CENTER. This second site will help accommodate animals of evacuees in the new mandatory evacuation areas. The emergency pet shelter will only handle pets evacuated by the Waldo Canyon Fire. Anyone attempting to reclaim a lost pet, or drop off a stray animal should go to the permanent HSPPR shelter (610 Abbott Lane, just off 8th Street by the Wal-Mart).
We are also seeking monetary donations to assist in caring for the evacuated animals. To help our Animal Law Enforcement team with future disaster operations, we are in need of specific equipment. Learn about ways to volunteer here.
Thank you to our wonderful community for your generous support. We are working hard to keep the animals in our care comfortable as they wait to be reunited with their families. We're offering free cat adoptions to help homeless felines find loving homes, while creating more space for animals in need. Come to our shelter at 610 Abbott Lane, meet an animal to adopt, and make the dreams of a cat come true by adopting.
