Greetings,

DRT is setting up a Hurricane Isaac relief effort at the Slidell
Church of Christ in Slidell, LA today. There are over 500 homes
that have been flooded just in the Slidell area near the church
building. Volunteers are needed immediately for clean up –
chain saw work – muck and gut, distribution, intake, data entry,
cooking, etc. immediately. Housing will be provided at the
Slidell church building. Air mattresses, showers and 3 daily
meals are provided by DRT.

We anticipate having several locations and will be working on
beginning an effort in New Orleans as soon as the roads are
passable. Please check the website for updates.

To volunteer, please register on the DRT website:
www.churchesofchristdrt.org

Funding is urgently needed as well.. this will help with
transportation of tool trailers, shower trailer, mobile kitchen
and supply trailer. It will also be used to help the Hurricane
survivors with immediate basic needs items as well as building
material for those without/under insured. Over 3,000 nutritious
home cooked meals can be served each day out of the DRT mobile
kitchen. Although the cost as well as prep time is more than just
serving sandwiches, etc. we feel very strongly that the meals we
serve be nutritious as well as delicious. The comments we’ve
received from those who’ve benefitted from these meals include
things such as…”thank you for allowing us to keep our dignity
by serving meals that better than even better than we could get
in a restaurant”.

TO DONATE - Donations can be made through PayPal on the DRT
website or sent by postal mail to:
