SHIBA at Senior Services
Senior Services and Chinese Information and Service Center are proud sponsors of the SHIBA in King County. Trained volunteers provides free health insurance education, counseling, and assistance to all Washington residents.

There are many opportunities to get involved locally with the SHIBA. Sample volunteer roles include:

Senior Information and Assistance
If you're an older person, or are caring for an older person, there are many services in Seattle and King County available if you are having trouble paying the bills. However, finding the right resource to meet your needs can be frustrating and complicated if you don't know who to call. If you need help understanding the maze of services, contact Senior Information and Assistance. Our trained, professional staff will:
Direct you to the appropriate agency or contact the agency on your behalf
Arrange home visits if you have intensive needs
Follow up to make sure that you have received the help you need
Senior Rights Assistance
Senior Rights Assistance (SRA) helps persons of all ages understand their legal and consumer rights and empowers them to take action! Our services and materials are completely free! Senior Rights Assistance specialists provide individualized attention and are knowledgeable about many legal and consumer rights related topics, including: powers of attorney, estate planning and consumer issues.
Solid Ground’s Housing Counseling Services
Solid Ground's Housing Counseling services include Mortgage Default Counseling, Predatory Lending Prevention, Reverse Equity Mortgage Counseling, Landlord/Tenant Counseling. All of these services include information and assistance on rights and responsibilities under local and State eviction and foreclosure statutes. Assistance negotiating with landlords and lenders for households experiencing a housing crisis. Modest financial assistance to prevent housing loss for eligible households. Financial skills counseling and workshops, including Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) recruitment and case management. Reverse equity mortgage counseling for senior homeowners.
