*Room Available in Cooperative Living House*
*(Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA)*
The Cambridge Cooperative Club (http://cambridgecoop.wordpress.com), an
eleven person housing cooperative located between Harvard and Porter
Squares in Cambridge, is seeking a friendly, cooperative-minded person of
any age or background to join the house starting May 1st.
Founded 50 years ago, The Cambridge Coop is comprised of eleven, lively and
mature housemates spanning in age range from mid-20s to early-80s.
Housemates have included teachers, musicians, writers, meditators,
researchers, students, farmers, dancers, photographers, and organizational
leaders. The house seeks to create a safe space where all feel welcomed,
and house members are committed to recognizing and working to transform
deeply-rooted discrimination of all kinds in ourselves, our community, and
our society so that we may more fully contribute to building communities of
peace and cooperation in the world.
Housemates all share a common interest in living purposely within a
communal setting. There is a communal dinner once a week as well as a house
meeting every two weeks that housemates are expected to attend. Housemates
are also expected to complete weekly chores related to cleaning &
organizing the house, and/or cooking & shopping for the household. Also,
each member takes on a role in one of three committees related to
maintenance, finances and community development which work monthly to
manage broader issues for the household*. *In addition, housemates spend
additional time together socially while also balancing their other life
priorities and have held potlucks, gatherings, and workshops to educate and
entertain themselves and to build community.
The house itself is spacious, well-kept and well-suited to cooperative
living. Among a number of great features, there is a large kitchen, a
sizable back deck and a small food garden.
