Notes
We are so thankful and appreciative of the volunteers who help at the Mission everyday. Our volunteers are a diverse group representing many different spans of age, occupation, race and religion. You can make a difference at the Boston Rescue Mission in a variety of ways. We have opportunities for the individual who would like to become part of a family-like atmosphere. We also have volunteer activities designed for single families or groups.
Last year approximately 2,200 people volunteered in some capacity at the Boston Rescue Mission. Being a non-profit organization, we keep track of volunteer hours and estimate for tax purposes the value of volunteer support received. In the 2006 fiscal year, our estimated volunteer support was nearly $1.5 million dollars. Almost a quarter of the Boston Rescue Mission budget is "in-kind" donations like volunteer support. Clearly we could not sustain our services without our tremendous volunteers!
