Notes
The purpose of the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank is to eliminate hunger in its surrounding 13-North Texas county service area by acquiring food and distributing it to partner agencies to give to those in need.
Procuring and providing food to qualified non-profit member agencies for free distribution to their clients is the primary reason for the existence of the WFAFB. The WFAFB receives food from local food drives, donations from area growers, wholesalers, and retailers of edible but unsalable food, donations through America’s Second Harvest and other food banks, and USDA TEXCAP commodities. This food is distributed to qualified member agencies for free distribution to their clients. The types of agencies served are emergency pantries, youth programs, senior citizen programs, soup kitchens, rehab centers such as battered shelters, halfway houses, and low-income day care centers.
